About Diamond
What is Diamond?
An electric heater that replaces charcoal on a traditional hookah. It sits where the bowl sits: pack the cup, set the temperature, start. No coals, just pure flavor.
Will it fit my hookah?
It fits stems that take a standard bowl, with one of the two adapters in the box, long or short. Push the adapter only half-way onto the stem, set Diamond on top and press down with both hands: they slide down together for the firmest grip. Your stem, base and hose stay as they are. Not sure? Send a photo of your stem top to support@ensoshisha.com.
Diamond wobbles on the stem. What do I do?
Take it off, set the adapter only half-way onto the stem, put Diamond on top and press: they slide down together and sit firm. Still loose? Try the other adapter.
Does the tobacco taste different?
Cleaner. The blend is warmed to a set temperature from the sides and from below instead of being scorched from above, so you taste the leaf and the molasses, not the coal.
Do I need an app, Wi-Fi or an account?
No. Everything is on the dial: turn to move and to change the temperature, click to choose. Software updates run over USB-C from your computer; when an update is out, we will email you the link.
What is in the box?
Diamond with the thermo cap and the battery fitted, two ceramic cups, two basket meshes, the long and the short adapter, the cup removal tool, a cleaning brush and a USB-C cable. A USB-C wall charger is not in the box, and the flat screens are sold separately.
Pre-heat, heat and profiles
What temperature should I use?
The pre-heat matters most; Phoenix then holds the session heat for you. Start with the default, 7 minutes at 270 °C (518 °F). For a lighter session use 265 °C (509 °F), for a stronger one 275 °C (527 °F). Virginia blends usually smoke best at 270 °C, some at 265 °C; Burley at 275 °C; minty and perfumed blends at 265 °C. If the tobacco has not opened up after the pre-heat, add 10 °C; never raise it by more than 15 °C at a time. Find your pre-heat ›
How does pre-heat work?
Diamond warms the tobacco before the first draw. Set the time in Pre-heat Timer, up to 15 minutes, then choose Start Pre-heat. While the screen counts down, turn the dial to set the temperature, 180–320 °C (356–608 °F). A sound tells you the session has started. A longer pre-heat needs a lower heat, a shorter one a higher heat.
What are the profiles?
Two. Phoenix (AUTO) is the default: every time you switch on, it is set to 7 minutes at 270 °C, then it controls the temperature for you through the whole session and keeps the cup from burning. Oracle (MANUAL) holds exactly the heat you set, from the pre-heat to the end of the session, and remembers the pre-heat time and temperature you set last. Open Menu, Profiles, and turn to choose; a tick marks the one in use.
Can I change the temperature during a session?
Yes, any time. Turn slowly for one degree at a time, fast to jump in fives. The change holds for that session only.
How do I pause a session?
Turn the dial down to 180 °C (356 °F). Diamond keeps the cup warm without burning the tobacco, so you can step away for up to 15 minutes. Back again? Turn up to your heat.
How do I stop a session?
Click twice, turn to Yes and click. It works during the pre-heat and during the session. There is no auto-off: the session runs until you stop it, switch off, or the battery runs low.
It tastes harsh or burnt. What do I do?
Turn the dial down ten or twenty degrees, lift the cap off by its pads and blow gently into the hose once or twice: fresh air pushes the old smoke out through the cup and cools the tobacco. Then put the cap back on. Next time pack a little looser.
Weak flavor and little smoke?
Go up 10 °C (18 °F), open the plate on the cap a step, pack a little denser or pre-heat a minute longer.
What does the plate on the cap do?
It sets how much air reaches the blend. It has five positions: four open settings and fully closed, where there is no draw. Start fully open and close it a step only if you want a denser draw. Turn it with the other end of the cup tool, even during a session.
The dial turns but nothing changes?
It is locked: a lock shows on the screen. Click four times to unlock it.
Battery and charging
How long does the battery last?
Up to 2 hours per charge. At 10 % you hear a first sound; at 4–6 % the screen shows Low battery and heating stops; at 2–3 % Diamond switches off.
How do I charge it?
Over USB-C, about 1.5 hours from empty with a 30 W charger, inside Diamond or with the battery on its own. A 15–29 W charger works, just more slowly. There is no wall charger in the box: a phone fast charger or a laptop charger rated 30 W or more does the job.
Can I charge while I smoke?
Yes. Keep a 30 W USB-C supply plugged into the back and the session runs on. In Phoenix (AUTO) the battery charges while you smoke. In Oracle it charges at 285 °C on the screen or lower; above that, the cable keeps the session going, but the battery does not charge. After about three hours on the cable, take the battery out for about 20 minutes to cool, then charge it on its own.
How do I check the battery level?
With Diamond switched off, click the dial once: the charge shows on the screen. On the battery, each of the four dots is about a quarter of the charge.
Can I change the battery during a session?
Switch Diamond off first, then fit a charged battery. The next start is a new session with its own pre-heat. To keep one session going, plug in USB-C instead.
The battery does not charge?
Let it cool first: after a session it is warm. Then use a 30 W USB-C supply, try another cable, or charge the battery on its own.
Diamond does not switch on?
Check that the paper tab is off the battery contacts, that the battery sits in with the latch closed and that it is charged. Then hold the dial for 3 seconds.
Packing the cup
How much tobacco does it take?
10–15 g of your usual tobacco, in two light layers in the basket mesh, each pressed just a little. Mix the tin first: the juice settles at the bottom. Stop at the edge of the mesh. How to pack the cup ›
Basket mesh or flat screen?
The basket mesh is in the box and suits every blend. The flat screen, sold separately, is an add-on: the tobacco lies against the hot cup, opens in a different way and feels hotter, so it needs a lower temperature. On the flat screen we recommend Oracle, so you control the heat yourself.
Can I mix two flavors?
Yes, in layers. Diamond heats the cup from the sides and from below, and the tobacco at the bottom gets it most. So the bottom layer is your main flavor and opens first, and the top layer is the accent that comes through as the cup warms. Two flavors are plenty.
Can I change the cup mid-session?
Yes. Lift the cap by its pads, slide the fork of the cup tool under the brim and lift the cup straight out onto a heat-safe surface. Set the next packed cup in and close the cap. Two ceramic cups ship in the box for exactly this.
The cup will not come out?
Let Diamond cool. Twist the cup gently, carefully so it does not crack. Still stuck? Press lightly around the rim to rock it loose, then lift it out with the tool.
Cleaning and care
How do I clean it?
The heating element never clogs. After every session, give Diamond 20–30 minutes to cool, lift the cup out and push the mesh and the tobacco out in one piece. Wash the cup and the mesh with warm water and a sponge, and rinse all three parts of the cap. Stuck residue? Soak, then sponge again. The dishwasher works, but we do not recommend it: the ceramic gets more brittle.
How often does the shaft need cleaning?
Every few sessions. Give Diamond an hour to an hour and a half to cool and lift the cap off. Leave the battery in with the latch closed, push the brush through the shaft from the top, then rinse gently from the top only. Let everything dry fully.
What must never get wet?
The battery, its contacts and the dial. No water in the battery bay, the battery and the body never go under water or into a dishwasher, and the dial and screen are wiped with a dry cloth. If water gets in, do not switch Diamond on: let it cool down and dry out completely. Water on the contacts or inside the body is not covered by the warranty.
A smell from the last session?
Rinse the chamber from the top and brush the shaft, then let it dry fully.
Can I touch it during a session?
Yes, by the band and the lower body. The cup and the cap are hot, the way a bowl and its foil would be: lift the cap only by its rubber side pads. Let Diamond cool in the open on a hard surface, never covered up on a sofa.
Software, travel and warranty
How do I update the software?
Every Diamond leaves us with the latest software. When an update is out, we will email you the link to the update page. Then: switch Diamond off and take the battery out; hold the dial and plug the USB-C cable into the port at the top of the empty battery bay, the other end into your computer; let go, open the update page in Chrome and click Connect; keep the cable in until the page says it is done. The steps with pictures ›
Which software version do I have?
With Diamond switched off, click the dial five times. The version shows on the screen.
How do I go back to factory settings?
With Diamond switched off, click seven times and hold. Profiles and settings return to how they left the factory.
Can I take it on a plane?
Yes. The battery is 56 Wh, well under the 100 Wh carry-on limit; it travels in your cabin bag, never in checked luggage. Diamond itself, without the battery, can go in either bag. Airlines set their own rules, so check yours before you travel.
What wears out, and can I buy spares?
The cups, screens, mesh and adapters wear like any bowl and grommet. Every one of them, plus the cap, battery and cable, is sold separately. Diamond accessories ›
Warranty and returns?
One year on Diamond and one year on the battery. Keep your receipt and write to support@ensoshisha.com to register your warranty. Returns: 15 days from delivery, unused and in the original condition, with a 20% restocking fee; return shipping is not covered. Write to support first.

ENSŌ Device FAQs
Can I swap batteries mid-session in ENSŌ?
Absolutely — pop in a charged pack and resume immediately.
How do I turn ENSŌ on and off?
Press and hold the Thermodial for three seconds. Orange LED indicator pulses = heating. Repeat to power down.
What temperature range and modes are available?
Rotate the Thermodial 180–330 °C in 5° steps. Triple-press to activate G-Mode, which skips the 70° pre-heat and delivers a faster, flatter heat curve.
What do the LED colors indicate?
• Orange – Standard mode/heating
• Green – G-Mode active
• Blue – Temperature locked
• Red – Low battery
What's the difference between ENSŌ Regular Orange mode and Green mode?
In regular mode, the temperature is regulated by ENSŌ's sophisticated heating algorithm. Features a 70°C+ pre-heat in a 5-minute pre-heating program.
In Green mode, the power distribution is more linear to counterbalance the cooling from more frequent draws. Features no extra heat in the 5-minute pre-heating time.
How to turn ENSŌ into Green mode?
To get the device into Green mode you should press the Thermodial 3 times.
How do I lock or unlock the temperature?
Press the Thermodial 5 times consecutively to toggle Lock (blue LED).
How do I pause a session?
Turn the Thermodial down to 180 °C. The bowl will stay warm for up to 20 minutes; dial back up to resume.
Can I adjust the draw or airflow in ENSŌ?
Yes. First, avoid overpacking — keep the load between 8 and 15 g and leave a clear chimney in the center of the bowl. If the pull is still too restricted, attach the optional Hose Adapter and any wide-bore (≈11–12 mm) silicone hose; the larger diameter can nearly double airflow for an effortless draw.
What materials and dimensions does the ENSŌ have?
Zinc-alloy body, stainless-steel air path, heat-stable ceramic bowl, crystal-glass tank; footprint 33 × 12 cm.
What are the battery specifications?
5,000 mAh / 55 Wh Li-ion, USB-C PD input 5–20 V (max 45 W). Pass-through vaping is supported once the pack has at least 5% charge.
